To Primrose (Bent Trail) he will go

New school for Tristan and he starts on June 28th!! We are thrilled and because we are moving, it will be easier for us because of the location and because I won't have to pick him up at 5:30pm which is a daily stressor for me and I barely make it!!

Here is the info... feel free to read (or not to) I just like having all of this for his 2nd blog baby book!

There are a few pics on there... but it gives an overall of what he'll be doing.

Flourishing in an environment that fosters a love for learning and a positive self-image

A Philosophy of Balance

A fully balanced day--the caring atmosphere, a reassuring routine, and stimulating activities--provides toddlers with a sense of security. They learn through a balance of play, teacher-facilitated activities, and repetition. It is the optimum environment for learning at this level of development!

Developing by “Doing”

Through the accredited Balanced Learning® Young Toddler and Toddler curriculum, children will enjoy stories, toys, music, games, building blocks, and more designed to:

• Develop language growth and information
• Provide opportunities for development of small and large motor skills
• Present play experiences to build concepts, listening skills, and develop socially and emotionally

Communication and Caring

Every day, your toddler’s teachers provide you with a report on your child’s development, activities, and discoveries. We include eating, sleeping, diapering schedules, and information on special moments during the day. Each month you will receive Percy’s Pointers, a parent newsletter that contains suggestions to reinforce classroom activities at home with your active little one. You will also receive the On Balance monthly newsletter to keep you informed of school-wide events.;

Balanced Learning® for Young Toddlers and Toddlers

Weekly Units of Learning are designed to support a child’s development in the following areas:

• Language development—interactive story book reading

• Fine and gross motor skills

• Social/emotional development

• Listening skills

• Physical development…Thumbs Up!sm

• Music appreciation…Rhythm and Notessm

• Color and shape recognition

Expressive Language Development

Primrose Schools introduced the use of American Sign Language to improve the way parents and teachers interact with infants and toddlers. Through simple signs, toddlers are able to communicate their wants, needs, and observations in a manner that adults clearly understand. Research conducted by the American Speech and Hearing Association concluded that children might sign as their first language; but as they develop speech, they will possibly do both. Eventually the signing will diminish as the children use spoken words more effectively. Research also conclusively indicated that toddlers who sign tend to have a stronger command of verbal language and often begin speaking at an earlier age than toddlers who do not sign. Initial signs used at Primrose Schools are common, simple ones such as “more, eat, drink, help, bottle/milk, bed, book, and diaper change.”

A Primrose Classroom Designed Just for Toddlers!

Reading aloud to children helps to develop receptive language, builds imagination, and lays a foundation for literacy. The Primrose Literature Kit and Og’s Story Time provide toddlers with point-and-say books and books that pose simple questions, repeat sounds and rhymes, have clear pictures of familiar objects, and simple stories with predictable plots. Peanut’s Picture Cardssm are used to expand children’s vocabulary. The children also participate in songs, fingerplays, and rhymes that build phonemic awareness. Children’s Choice Exploration Activities provide toddlers with the opportunity for self discovery and learning. Each day, teachers plan these activities for the children to explore in art, blocks, and dramatic play. Children interact with the twelve Primrose Friendssm Puppets as part of lessons and play activities. The goal is to build each child’s sense of security and promote social and cognitive development. Toddlers love this special learning environment designed just for them!
